Immigration Detention Center Ordered to Pay Millions for Minimum Wage Violations

After years of complaints by activists and detained migrants regarding the exploitation of workers, a federal judge has ordered the immigration detention company GEO to pay more than 23 million dollars. The charges are for violating state minimum wage rules and paying immigrant detainees only one dollar a day for cleaning and maintenance work at the prison.
