Programs to Train Doctors in Poor Communities Under Threat

Poor rural communities face a chronic scarcity of general practitioners. To address this problem, the Affordable Care Act established local training programs to encourage new doctors to remain in these communities. However, these programs are on a tight rope due to the Trump administration’s plans to repeal and replace Obamacare. Heidi de Marco, a journalist with Kaiser Health News, tells us how these programs are working in California’s Central Valley.
