Thirteen babies have been born in the United States with microcephalia related to the Zika virus. Although in those cases, the virus was acquired outside the country, there are now cases of Zika transmitted by mosquito bites in Southern Florida, and thousands of cases more in Puerto Rico. Despite this public health emergency, Congress went to its summer recess without approving one cent to fight the illness. On Radio Bilingue’s flagship program Línea Abierta, we spoke about this with a congressman and doctor, a health official, and an activist. Marco Vinicio González reports.
