New Obstacles to Treatment for Latinos in Public Hospitals

The demand for mental health services in Spanish is growing rapidly. However, very few bilingual and bicultural therapists exist at a time when Latinos are suffering from high levels of fear, depression and anxiety due to the toxic climate of hate and persecution. In a conversation with Samuel Orozco, Dr. Jane Delgado warns that, for this reason, the current federal government’s attempt to eliminate important services that facilitate care for Latinos and other minorities at public hospitals is particularly worrisome.
