This Sunday, Mexicans will go to the polls for the first presidential recall vote in the history of the country. Citizens will have to decide whether to endorse President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to continue his administration until 2024, or to request his immediate removal due to loss of confidence. This unprecedented exercise of direct democracy has generated a polarized debate. Since the referendum was initiated by the president, the opposition considers it a waste of public funds.
