California’s Coachella Valley is a place of economic contrasts. Next to large mansions and golf courses are the precariously perched homes of some of the poorest and sickest residents of the state. There are so many uninsured people and so many health problems here that healthfairs are organized regularly here, where volunteer doctors offer free healthcare. Our correspondent Rubén Tapia went to one of these fairs at a school in the rural community of Thermal.
