Radio Bilingüe Launches All New Website
To Advance World-Class Latino Public Media Service
The Radio Bilingüe National Latino Public Radio Network and Programming Service announces the launch of the completely redesigned radiobilingue.org website.
The new radiobilingue.org offers freshly designed graphics and streamlined user tools for access to Radio Bilingüe’s Latino-focused national news, public affairs, music, cultural and educational content produced by its experienced producers and reporters around the U.S. and Mexico.
On-line visitors can now more easily tune in to Radio Bilingüe’s live audio stream of the only national daily Spanish news and information programs in public media, subscribe to podcasts of the flagship programs, find past programs on RB’s growing archive files, and listen to Radio Bilingüe’s popular bilingual 24-hour programming service including classic and contemporary Mexican, Afro-Caribbean, Latin Jazz and World music. Links to free smart phone applications for listening to the live audio stream can be accessed from the site.
Prominently featured on the site are Radio Bilingüe’s flagship national Spanish-language daily news service Noticiero Latino, national Spanish daily interactive talk show Línea Abierta, and weekend national Spanish news magazine Edición Semanaria. Visitors will find easily accessible audio on-demand from these programs, as well as selected content provided by Radio Bilingüe’s media partners such as Democracy Now!; Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN-TV); The Huffington Post/Voces; Radio Nederland; Native Voice One; and Mexico’s La Jornada newspaper and Radio Educación.
Tools on the site allow listeners to more easily provide instant feedback to Radio Bilingüe about its unique coverage of Latino interests including immigration, health, education, arts, the environment and more. Radio Bilingüe’s Facebook page and Twitter account are directly accessible from the site.
Music-loving visitors to the site can listen to vibrant offerings throughout the day, including every Mexican regional genre from Mariachi to Norteño and Tejano, Afro-Latin Rhythms, Rock en Español and Alter Latin, World Music, Latin Jazz, Oldies (R&B, funk and soul), and more. Maria Eraña, Radio Bilingüe Director of Broadcasting notes, “A growing number of public radio stations throughout the country are using small and large blocks of Radio Bilingüe programming each week to better serve Latinos as well as all music lovers.”
On July 4,2013 month, Radio Bilingüe celebrated the 33rd anniversary of the launch of its first Latino-controlled community radio station in Fresno, California. Today Radio Bilingüe owns and operates 13 of its own public radio stations in California and the Southwest, and is the leading producer of Latino focused content for the nation’s public broadcasting system.
Radio Bilingüe’s focus on community health, empowerment and civic engagement has drawn support for decades from listeners, foundations and publicly funded institutions. Hugo Morales, Radio Bilingüe founder and Executive Director, says “Our new website brings a hugely needed improved on-line public news and information service for Latinos in the U.S. and around the world and also tells the story of Radio Bilingüe in a brand new way. Now our website matches our stellar public radio broadcast content that our audience has appreciated for decades. We will also continue to use our website to connect our audience directly to resources such as health care, legal rights, education, job information and voter education.”
Most of the new radiobilingue.org website is bilingual in Spanish and English, while breaking news updates and articles will be posted in Spanish, the language of the Noticiero Latino news service.
