Deported Veteran Finally Takes Oath of Citizenship

More than a decade after being deported to Mexico, Hector Barajas, a veteran Army paratrooper, crossed the border and took his oath of citizenship at the federal immigration offices in San Diego. Barajas was born in Mexico, grew up in Los Angeles, served six years in the armed forces and was later deported after falling into problems with drugs and violence, since he was a non-citizen resident. Barajas gained notoriety after organizing a shelter to serve deported veterans In Tijuana. Manuel Ocaño tells the story.
