César Chávez on the silver screen
He is one of the most influential defenders of rights and justice for Latino workers, but 21 years after his death, he is still an unknown for many Americans. The movie “Cesar Chávez: An American Hero,” directed by Mexican filmmaker and actor Diego Luna, comes to the big screen this week. It seeks not only to place Chávez and his partner in struggle Dolores Huerta on the pedestal of heroes, but also remind the public that their battle for dignity is more relevant than ever before. José López Zamorano reports from the nation’s capital.
