This week marked the 10th anniversary of the DACA program, created through an executive order by President Obama, which protected over 800,000 young immigrants from deportation and gave them work permits. However, the executive order has been challenged in the courts by Republican politicians and its fate remains in the hands of conservative judges. A front row witness to the birth of DACA explains how Dreamer activists forced President Obama’s campaign and the White House to create the program. We hear from Gabriela Domenzain, who was President Obama’s national spokesperson for his re-election campaign ten years ago. You can listen to the full interview in the archives of Línea Abierta for Tuesday, June 14 at radiobilingue.org
