Hate crimes against Latinos increased dramatically in Los Angeles county last year, according to a recent official report. In light of this, authorities launched an initiative to facilitate citizen reporting of these crimes, especially when these crimes affect immigrant families. Our correspondent Rubén Tapia reports on this and the efforts of a young activist in the San Pedro area of Los Angeles to help a group of Latino families whose homes were defaced with swastikas, a symbol of Nazis and white supremacists.
