Dangerous Coronavirus-Related Illness Increases in California Children – Hospitals in California’s Central Valley, already crowded due to the Delta variant of COVID-19, are now facing another crisis: a growing number of Black and Latino children have been admitted this summer with a rare and dangerous inflammation associated with the virus. Latin American and Caribbean Presidents Resume Cooperation Plans – After a four-year hiatus, heads of state from nearly twenty countries in Latin America and the Caribbean met in Mexico City to discuss issues including addressing the shortage of COVID-19 vaccines and providing aid during natural disasters. The summit was chaired by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Tensions flared when calls were made to do away with the Organization of American States and presidents of opposite political persuasions exchanged barbs.
