All signs indicate that several social programs will be left out, and instead of immigration legalization with citizenship, there is a proposal for temporary status for ten years. Immigration Detention Center Ordered to Pay Millions for Minimum Wage Violations – After years of complaints by activists and detained migrants regarding the exploitation of workers, a federal judge has ordered the immigration detention company GEO to pay more than 23 million dollars. The charges are for violating state minimum wage rules and paying immigrant detainees only one dollar a day for cleaning and maintenance work at the prison. Families Remember People Lost to COVID-19 in Traditional Day of the Dead Ceremonies –  The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of more than a quarter of a million Mexicans. In this week’s traditional Day of the Dead celebration, Mexican families celebrated their lost loved ones in a very special way, as the high risk of contagion of the coronavirus prevented them from accompanying them in their final days and bidding them farewell with the usual funeral ceremonies. Citlali Sáenz witnessed how two families remembered their loved ones on November 2nd. She reports from Mexico City.
