New Republican Assault on Sanctuary Cities in Florida Rejected – In Florida, Republican lawmakers are pushing a bill that would crack down on transportation for unaccompanied immigrant children and asylum seekers in the state. It would expand on previous initiatives targeting sanctuary cities. A state senate committee has given the bill the go-ahead even though the law it proposes to strengthen is in litigation. The law would penalize private companies and community organizations that transport undocumented immigrants. The bill’s leading cheerleader, Republican Gov.
