DAPA Expected to Go All the Way to the Supreme Court – An appeals court in New Orleans is considering whether Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, or DAPA, can move forward. Activists from all over the country concentrated last Friday in front of the courthouse, urging the judges to allow the program to go into effect. One of them was Larry Kleinman, a member of the executive committee of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM). We spoke with him on Línea Abierta. This is a segment of our conversation.

Young People Lobby for Anti-Wage-Theft Law in California – This week a bill in California that seeks to stop wage theft moved forward, as it passed a state senate committee. Thousands of workers in the state are victims of employers who refuse to pay them minimum wage or overtime. The bill has the support of a wide coalition of workers, community groups, and some businesses. Fernando Andrés Torres reports that a group of young people also traveled to the state capitol to support the bill, because of the protections it would give to their parents.

Who Can Still Enroll in Health Insurance through the Affordable Care Act? – The open enrollment period for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act marketplaces has ended, but many people can still enroll. We asked Angelina Valencia, a regional manager for Covered California, the agency in charge of the state’s health insurance exchange, just who qualifies and how.
