Families Affected by California Drought Receive Water Tanks – Almost one thousand homes in Tulare County, California have lost water, due to the drought. To help these families temporarily, the county government and community organizations are joining forces to install water tanks. The first to receive one of these tanks were those families who live in rural areas without a potable water system. The small community of Monson was chosen to start this pilot program. Juan Santiago has been following the story.

Reproductive Health Crisis for Latina Women in Texas – A group of Latina women from Texas met with a group of human rights experts to denounce the barriers they face to receive family planning and abortion services. In what they call a worsening crisis, many reproductive health clinics have closed in Texas, and funds for family planning have been eliminated. Latina women are among the most affected, and even more so, immigrant women. On Radio Bilingüe’s national news show Línea Abierta, we spoke with Ana Rodriguez de Frates, director of policy and advocacy in Texas for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health.

Ciudad Juárez Mother Calls for Justice in Los Angeles – Carla Castañeda, mother of one of the 2000 girls and women who have disappeared in the last 22 years in the border city of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, is demanding justice for her daughter. Castañeda held a three-day hunger strike in Los Angeles and gave a list of demands to the Mexican Consul in the city. Our correspondent in L.A., Rubén Tapia, was there to witness this emotional demand for justice.
