Unaccompanied Minors from Mexico Deported Immediately – Though public attention on children detained at the border has centered around those who migrate from Central America, a large part of those who cross alone are from Mexico. Many of these minors are also fleeing violence and abuse, but even so, the majority of Mexican children are deported immediately, without legal defense or the opportunity to argue their case in immigration court. Our news director, Samuel Orozco, spoke on the national talk show Línea Abierta with Carlos Spector Calderón, a specialist in political asylum.

Inspiring Love for Language – Bilingual education and dual immersion is experimenting a resurgence in California. More Spanish is being taught, both to those who speak Spanish at home and those who are just learning the language. Teachers and parents seek to inspire their students using the best books and music in Spanish. This feature is part of our series Raíces: Los Maestros.
