Immigrants Over Age 50 to Gain Health Insurance in California – In a historic step, California will offer public health insurance to undocumented immigrants over age 50 as part of the new budget agreed between the state legislature and Governor Gavin Newsom. Coverage was already extended to immigrants up to age 25. This large social investment was made possible by the efforts of Latino legislators and community coalitions and the historic fiscal surplus enjoyed by the state treasury.
