How Are Immigrant Families Surviving Isolation Over the Coronavirus Emergency? – The U.S. government has declared a national emergency in response to the spread of the coronavirus. Nearly all state governments have done the same, shutting down schools, restaurants, bars and gyms, among other activities. In California, a dozen counties have mandated “Shelter in Place,” urging residents to isolate themselves at home. Both the federal and state governments have approved aid packages for those laid off or potentially evicted. How are some immigrant families surviving this crisis?
