Supreme Court Hears DACA Case Amid Divided Opinions – The nine Supreme Court judges appeared to be divided in their questions upon hearing arguments for and against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The final ruling is expected sometime next spring or summer. Meanwhile, and in anticipation of a ruling that would give Trump the authority to cancel DACA, advocates are urging beneficiaries to renew their temporary work and residence permits. With Assistance and Fines, California Seeks to Increase the Number of Insured – Beginning next year, California residents will be required to purchase health insurance. The state government will help more than one million new consumers buy insurance plans, however, those who fail to do so will be issued a fine the following year. During the three months of the open enrollment period, workers from the agency that regulates the health insurance marketplace are traveling around the state to clarify things and encourage new enrollments.
