Uber and Lyft Drivers Close to Achieving Labor Rights in California – After traveling 500 miles over three days from Los Angeles to Sacramento, hundreds of Uber and Lyft drivers visited California’s Congress to demand support for AB5, a bill that would eliminate the classification of these drivers as “independent contractors,” as they are currently considered by the multimillion dollar companies, and would grant them full labor rights. New Obstacles to Treatment for Latinos in Public Hospitals – The demand for mental health services in Spanish is growing rapidly. However, very few bilingual and bicultural therapists exist at a time when Latinos are suffering from high levels of fear, depression and anxiety due to the toxic climate of hate and persecution. In a conversation with Samuel Orozco, Dr. Jane Delgado warns that, for this reason, the current federal government’s attempt to eliminate important services that facilitate care for Latinos and other minorities at public hospitals is particularly worrisome.
