States Challenge the Rollback of Clean Car Standards – The Trump administration decided to repeal national standards requiring the automobile industry to make cleaner cars, claiming that these rules are a burden for car manufacturers. Under an Obama-era agreement, the auto industry agreed with California and 12 other states to making cars that get up to 55 miles per gallon by 2025. Upon learning that the EPA plans to reverse these commitments, three states on the West Coast and dozens of cities expressed opposition and vowed to go to court.
