Although Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has the majority of Latino support, some strategists believe she lost the opportunity to get more Latino voters than Barack Obama had in 2012, despite Republican Donald Trump becoming the villain and has been repulsed by the Latino community. From Undocumented to Wall Street Executive – Have you ever heard of an undocumented immigrant getting a job as an executive on Wall Street? That’s what young Mexican immigrant Julissa Arce did. Now that she has U.S. citizenship, Arce is telling her story in her book, My (Underground) American Dream, which she hopes will be an inspiration for Latinos to register and vote. 15 Years of Son Jarocho in California – Jaranero groups from all over California met in East L.A. to celebrate son jarocho in a historic event that is now celebrating its 15th year. The Encuentro is part of a movement of artists in favor of making this musical genre from Mexican’s coastal state of Veracruz flourish in California. With sones, fandango and zapateado, the jarana players are still capturing the imagination of children, young people, and senior citizens. Rubén Tapia was there.
