Five on Hunger Strike to Protest Police Racism – Five Latino and African-American residents of San Francisco went on hunger strike April 21st, to protest the racism of the city’s police, and the death, in the last three years, of four Black and Latino people shot by police. Fernando Andrés Torres visited the strikers, who as this edition went to press, had not eaten solid foods in more than two weeks. This story is part of the series “Hablando de la Raza.”

100 Days Without Soda or Junk Food – How hard would it be for you to stop drinking soda or junk food for 100 days? Hundreds of people in Kern County, in the south of California’s Central Valley, did just that, and also took on the challenge to do exercise during that time. In their county, 6 out of 10 residents are overweight. Also, the county has the highest rate of heart disease in all of California, and the second highest rate of diabetes. Radio Bilingüe reporter Rubén Tapia followed one mother and her son during their challenge.
