Senate Set to Approve Massive Bipartisan Infrastructure Package – After marathon negotiations and legislative amendments, the US Senate is poised to give President Biden his biggest political victory of the year with the passage of a $1 trillion infrastructure plan. Latino leaders widely celebrated the expected creation of millions of jobs and the arrival of high-speed Internet throughout the country with the massive investments under this plan. President Biden Meets with Latino Leaders on Anniversary of El Paso Massacre – On the second anniversary of the massacre of 23 people in El Paso, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris met with twelve Latino leaders to mark the tragic occasion and discuss their economic agenda. At the White House meeting, they discussed the challenges of passing immigration reform using the budget reconciliation process and passing a national law on voting rights. Arturo Vargas, executive director of the National Association of Latino Elected Officials, was one of the invited leaders and he shared some details about the meeting with our news director, Samuel Orozco. Hundreds of Asylum Seekers in Georgia Left Adrift – Hundreds of asylum seekers held at Irwin and Stewart Detention Centers in the southern state of Georgia are being released at the Atlanta Airport in the middle of the night, without money and in an unfamiliar city. Groups for immigrants in the area are providing aid, but they say their services are limited due to lack of volunteers and poor coordination with immigration authorities.
