Participating candidates are Veva Islas and Nelson Esparza. District 7 includes older neighborhoods in the City of Fresno, mostly around the Blackstone Avenue corridor and parts of southeast Fresno. District 7 has the second largest Latino population among Fresno districts, and historically has faced problems due to pollution, illegal dumping and lack of investment and opportunities for small businesses and youth.
