OaxaCalifornians Make Their Grandparents’ Celebration Their Own

Almost three decades ago, immigrants brought the Guelaguetza, a celebration of the indigenous cultures of the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, to California. This year in Los Angeles, thousands of Oaxacans and Angelinos celebrated in an outdoor park. During two days, people enjoyed banda music, traditional indigenous dance, and delicious Oaxacan mole.
